Senate confirms Mehmet Oz to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
Oz, who gained political prominence after he unsuccessfully ran for the Senate in Pennsylvania, is most known for his television show, The Dr. Oz Show, which ran for 13 seasons. Oz is a physician and heart surgeon.
The Senate on Thursday confirmed Dr. Mehmet Oz as the new administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in a 53-45 party line vote.
President Donald Trump nominated Oz for the position in November, stating there "may be no Physician more qualified and capable than Dr. Oz to Make America Healthy Again."

"Congratulations to my good friend [Dr. Oz] for being confirmed as CMS Administrator," Kansas GOP Sen. Roger Marshall said in a post on X. "Dr. Oz is committed to saving Medicare and Medicaid, combatting the chronic disease epidemic, and executing President Trump's and [Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s] vision to Make America Healthy Again. I can’t wait to work together."
Marshall is also a physician, who has practiced medicine for over 25 years before he was elected to the Senate.
