The Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday voted to advance the nomination for Tulsi Gabbard to become the director of National Intelligence to a final floor vote.

The committee recommended Gabbard in a 9-8 vote, according to the USA Today outlet.

Prior to the vote, it wasn't clear whether she would get through as some Republican senators in swing states seemed skeptical of her.

However, it was later reported that GOP Sens. Susan Collins, Maine., and Todd Young, Indiana., Republicans would support her.

Gabbard said during her confirmation hearing that if confirmed to the post she would work to restore trust and end politicization in the intelligence community.
