Tennessee GOP Rep. Tim Burchett on Tuesday revealed that he is suffering from a broken rib after he was kicked by his horse over the weekend, but stated that it would not keep him from working as planned.

Burchett said he was kicked by his horse after it was bitten by a horse fly on Sunday, but that he continued to attend events on Monday and Tuesday as scheduled. The lawmaker attended three events on Monday and two events Tuesday.

The incident occurred after lawmakers returned to their home districts for the August recess.

"It's going to take more than a broken rib to slow me down," Burchett declared on X. "I sincerely appreciate everyone's concern and prayers for a quick recovery. Pray for our country."

Burchett's incident on Sunday was not the first time that a member of his family was hurt by one of their horses. The lawmaker's daughter was hospitalized after being injured on a horse in 2022, according to The Hill.
