Senate delays confirmation hearing for Trump surgeon general pick Casey Means as she goes into labor
It is unclear as to when the hearing will be rescheduled
The Senate confirmation hearing for President Trump's surgeon general pick, Dr. Casey Means, has been delayed because she is going into labor with her first child.
A Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee spokesperson and a person familiar with Means confirmed the news to CNN on Thursday.
Means was originally going to be the first nominee to ever appear virtually before the HELP committee due to her pregnancy. The unnamed source said that the hearing was scheduled two days after Means’ due date.
Trump nominated Means, an author and part of the "Make America Healthy Again" movement, in May after withdrawing his nomination of Dr. Janette Nesheiwat.
It is unclear as to when the hearing will be rescheduled.
