Illinois Rep. Sean Casten's daughter dies at 17
The congressman's office has provide no information related to the cause of death.
Illinois Rep. Sean Casten has announced his 17-year-old daughter was found dead Monday morning in the family’s Downers Grove home.
The cause of death for the teen, Gwen Casten, had not been made public as of Tuesday morning.
Police arrived at the family home a little before 7 a.m. First-responders declared her deceased when they arrived at the home.
The Illinois congressmen's office did not provide any more information on her death.
The Democrat congressman has been an active supporter of gun reform and last week was cut off by Congress for reading off the names of over 600 children who died due to gun violence last year. His daughter also supported her father's cause by starting a “Stop The Bleed” training in her school to teach students to pack a gunshot wound.
An outpouring of support for Casten's family has been shown online.
