Congressman Burgess Owens, R-Utah, on Wednesday criticized Democrats for their reaction to Texas Republicans' redistricting plan.

"What the Democrats are lacking is wisdom," he said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "They have no respect for the American people. They believe that all they have to do is say something, and we're going to believe it."

Texas Democrats fled the state in a bid to deny Republicans a quorum and thereby prevent a redistricting effort expected to favor Republicans. State legislators have since voted to order the sergeant at arms to return the Democrats to the legislature under the authority of an arrest warrant.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Tuesday announced that he would seek judicial orders declaring that state Democrats who do not return to the legislature by the state House speaker's deadline have vacated their offices.

Owens said, amid all the chaos going on in Texas, MAGA Republicans and those behind President Donald Trump have a lot to look forward to.

"We're positive," he said. "We're putting things out like the 'one big beautiful bill' that allows the American Dream to prosper and for the middle class to grow."
