Former Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Shane Lamond was sentenced on Friday to 18 months in prison for tipping off Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio about an investigation into him.

Tarrio was in the courtroom on Friday, along with Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes, The Hill news outlet reported.

Last year, Lamond was found guilty of one count of obstructing justice and three counts of making false statements to federal law enforcement officials. He was accused of warning Tarrio that D.C. law enforcement had an arrest warrant for him related to the destruction of a Black Lives Matter banner.

Federal prosecutors said that Lamond lied to law enforcement about his relationship with Tarrio, suggesting it was “one-sided.”

During the week-long bench trial, Lamond and Tarrio took the stand. Lamond said he never passed sensitive police information along to Tarrio, and Tarrio testified in Lamond's defense that he never received any confidential information from the officer.

Tarrio was arrested over the destruction of a Black Lives Matter banner on Jan. 4, 2021, and ordered to stay out of Washington, D.C. He was not in the nation's capital during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, but was sentenced to 22 years in prison after being convicted of seditious conspiracy. Trump pardoned Tarrio on his first day back in office.
