Former Baltimore prosecutor Marilyn Mosby avoids jail, sentenced to home detention

U.S. District Court Judge Lydia Kay Griggsby sentenced former Baltimore City State Attorney Marilyn Mosby to 12 months home detention and 3 years supervised release on Thursday.

She will also have to perform 100 hours of community service as part of her sentence. 

Prosecutors were pushing for Mosby to serve 20 months in prison but she avoided jail time.

"Thank you. I swear, God sent angels into my life to see me when I felt like I wasn't being seen, and I'm just so grateful to each and every one of you. (God) has touched the heart of this judge and allowed me to go home to my babies," Mosby, a mother of two, told supporters at the courthouse.

She was charged with perjury and mortgage fraud in 2022.
