New Jersey woman files sexual assault lawsuit against Bill Cosby
The lawsuit is seeking $125 million in damages
A New Jersey woman has filed a lawsuit against actor and comedian Bill Cosby for allegedly sexually assaulting her.
According to The Hill, Lili Bernard is suing Cosby for allegedly drugging and raping her in 1990.
“I have waited a long time to be able to pursue my case in court and I look forward to being heard and to hold Cosby accountable for what he did to me. Although it occurred long ago, I still live with the fear, pain, and shame every day of my life,” Bernard said in a press release obtained by The Hill.
According to local news station WACU, the lawsuit details the alleged drugging of Bernard by Cosby wherein a sedative was dropped into her beverage without her knowledge. The station also details the moments leading up to the alleged rape, whereupon passing out from the drug, Bernard says she woke up to find Cosby undressing her.
Cosby was released from a Pennsylvania prison in June of 2021, following the state’s Supreme Court overturning his 2018 sexual assault conviction, citing a previous alleged non-prosecution agreement.
Bernard's lawsuit is seeking $125 million in damages.
