New video shows Milwaukee judge talk with federal agents as illegal immigrant left courthouse
Video footage shows the judge speaking with the agents as the illegal immigrant exits the courthouse with his lawyer.
A newly released video shows Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan talking with federal agents as an illegal immigrant left the courthouse in an effort to evade the agents.
Last week, Dugan pleaded not guilty to federal charges of concealing a person from arrest and obstruction of justice, after she allegedly helped an illegal immigrant evade arrest.
Dugan allegedly helped Eduardo Flores-Ruiz and his attorney escape from federal immigration officers on April 18, after learning that he was in the country illegally and that the officers were waiting to arrest him after his court appearance. Flores-Ruiz was also arrested last month.
Video footage of Dugan, federal immigration agents, and Flores Ruiz, which was publicly released by the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office through a public records request, shows the judge speaking with the agents as the illegal immigrant exits the courthouse with his lawyer, WTMJ-TV Milwaukee reported.
Another agent followed Flores-Ruiz and his attorney as they left the courthouse, which turned into a chase as Flores-Ruiz ran away, until he was caught by agents.
Flores-Ruiz was in court on April 18 for battery and domestic abuse charges stemming from an argument with his roommates, which was how federal prosecutors learned he was in the country illegally.
Dugan, according to prosecutors, allegedly helped Flores-Ruiz evade the agents by letting him leave her courtroom through a restricted door typically used by jurors and diverting the agents’ attention.
