Newsmax has settled with Dominion Voting Systems for $67 million in a 2020 election defamation case, according to documents filed Monday by the TV network with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis had ruled earlier that Newsmax defamed Dominion by airing false information about the company and its election equipment, according to the Associated Press

However, Davis decided to let a jury eventually decide whether the defamation was committed in malice, and if so, how much Newsmax should pay Dominion in damages. The two companies reached the settlement before the trial occurred.

Fox News Channel previously settled a similar lawsuit with Dominion in 2023 for $787.5 million. Newsmax also previously paid $40 million to settle a libel lawsuit with Smartmatic.

“Newsmax believed it was critically important for the American people to hear both sides of the election disputes that arose in 2020,” the company said in a statement. “We stand by our coverage as fair, balanced, and conducted within professional standards of journalism.”
