Utah GOP Gov. Spencer Cox on Sunday confirmed news reports earlier this weekend that the person in custody in connection to the fatal shooting of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk lives with a transgender partner.

The man in custody has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. He is expected to be officially charged Tuesday in Krik's death Wednesday at a rally at a university in Utah.

"Yes I can confirm that," Cox said on CNN when asked about the matter. "The roommate was a romantic partner, a male transitioning to a female.

Cox also said while Robinson has been "uncooperative," the partner has been "incredibly cooperative" and that the partner "had no idea that this was happening, and is working with investigators right now."
