Blinken to meet with Israeli, Palestinian counterparts to discuss 'recovery,' after truce

Secretary of State Antony Blinken is set to meet with his Israeli and Palestinian leader to discuss peace and recovery efforts between Israel and Hamas after the sides agreed Thursday to a cease-fire.

Blinken will meet with the leaders and regional counterparts "in the coming days to discuss recovery efforts and working together to build better futures for Israelis and Palestinians," a State Department spokesman said on the same day as the truce agreement, after 11 days of deadly and destructive rocket attacks and air strikes. However, he did not say when those meetings will take place.

Blinken also spoke to his Israeli counterpart, Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, who said he welcomed the U.S.'s top diplomat's "planned travel to the region."

Blinken is expected to visit Israel, the Palestinian Authority ruled West Bank, Jordan and Egypt, according to The Times of Israel.
