U.S. Embassy in South Korea displays a Black Lives Matter banner

The United States Embassy in South Korea announced that it is displaying a Black Lives Matter banner.

"The U.S. Embassy stands in solidarity with fellow Americans grieving and peacefully protesting to demand positive change," a Facebook post explains. "Our #BlackLivesMatter banner shows our support for the fight against racial injustice and police brutality as we strive to be a more inclusive & just society."

The move comes as protests have erupted across the U.S. in the wake of the May 25 death of George Floyd in Minnesota.

The embassy in a May 31 post highlighted its display of a rainbow LGBT Pride banner.

"The U.S. Embassy is displaying a rainbow banner on our Chancery in support of fundamental freedoms and human rights for all. #PRIDE2020 #LGBTI #EqualProtection," the post said.
