The Trump administration announced sanctions Wednesday being imposed on Russia’s two largest oil companies, as efforts to bring the war between Russia and Ukraine to an end have stalled.
The Treasury Department said it will be hitting Open Joint Stock Company Rosneft Oil Company and Lukoil OAO, with sanctions, according to The Hill.
“I just felt it was time. We waited a long time. I thought that we’d go long before the Middle East,” Trump said to the press in the Oval Office, with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at his side.
