FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said Saturday that he is shocked to his core about what he has learned during ongoing investigations to root out public corruption and political weaponization of intelligence agencies.

"The Director and I are committed to stamping out public corruption and the political weaponization of both law enforcement and intelligence operations," Bongino wrote on the social media platform X. "It is a priority for us. But what I have learned in the course of our properly predicated and necessary investigations into these aforementioned matters, has shocked me down to my core."

He added that the republic cannot be run the way it is currently being run, and he will "never be the same" after learning what he has learned.

"We are going to conduct these righteous and proper investigations by the book and in accordance with the law," Bongino's post concluded. "We are going to get the answers WE ALL DESERVE. As with any investigation, I cannot predict where it will land, but I can promise you an honest and dignified effort at truth. Not “my truth,” or “your truth,” but THE TRUTH.”

It was reported earlier this month that Bongino was debating stepping down unless Attorney General Pam Bondi resigned. The two reportedly had a fallout over how the Epstein documents were handled.

Epstein died in prison in August 2019 while awaiting trial on charges of sexually abusing dozens of girls. His death was officially ruled a suicide.

Officials of the Trump administration have met with Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell to get more information on the case. Maxwell is in the process of appealing her sex-trafficking conviction, for which she is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.
