The Department of Homeland Security is partnering with hundreds of law enforcement agencies to arrest and deport illegal immigrants.

A DHS memo reviewed by The Daily Wire shows that the agency has signed 562 agreements with state and local law enforcement groups to enforce federal immigration law. The memo notes that while the Biden administration also had these sorts of agreements, the Trump administration has a 316% increase in the number of agreements since President Trump took office in January.

The agreement allows state and local law enforcement agencies to conduct immigration enforcement operations with oversight from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, use federal immigration databases to identify the status of those arrested, and initiate ICE detainers to hold illegal immigrants until ICE can take them into custody.

“Since January 20, our partnerships with state and local law enforcement have led to over 1,100 arrests of dangerous criminal illegal aliens,” the DHS memo reads. “ICE has also trained over 5,000 officers across the country to help track down and arrest criminal illegal aliens in their communities.”

One of the agreements resulted in the joint immigration enforcement effort of DHS and Florida called Operation Tidal Wave.

“In just six days, 1,120 criminal illegal aliens were arrested, including dozens of rapists, murderers, drug traffickers, and MS-13 members,” according to the DHS memo. “This resounding success is a preview of what is to come: Effective and efficient coordination at all levels of law enforcement to remove illegal aliens.”
