Former FBI Executive Assistant Director Chris Piehota slammed the media on Monday for what he deemed an anti-law-enforcement position amid ongoing Los Angeles riots.

"I've seen, especially over the last four years in the previous administration, and even during the Obama years, the media has taken a very anti-law enforcement position, and that position has been very, very well-orchestrated and spread, so that our government and its officials are no longer, what I would call, single sources of authoritative information," Piehota said on the "John Solomon Reports" podcast.

Protests and riots have broken out across Los Angeles in response to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents' arrests of illegal immigrants.

In response to the protests, President Donald Trump deployed 2,000 National Guardsmen to the city, despite objections from Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom. Piehota said he thought the media wasn't doing a great job covering the riots and seemed more interested in promoting an ideology.

"The media hasn't done a very good job here," he said. "And I think that ideology is taking the place of taking care of and securing American communities. It's a shame."

At least 56 people have been arrested for rioting over the weekend, according to NBC News.
