The Justice Department on Friday subpoenaed New York Democratic Attorney General Letitia James to conduct an investigation into whether she violated President Donald Trump's civil rights.

The U.S. attorney’s office issued two grand jury subpoenas for the Northern District of New York to get information about James’ investigations into the Trump Organization and National Rifle Association, sources told CNN

“Investigating the fraud case Attorney General James won against President Trump and his businesses has to be the most blatant and desperate example of this administration’s carrying out the president’s political retribution campaign," said James attorney Abbe Lowell, according to the news outlet.

James' office has declined to confirm the subpoena, according to The Associated Press.

In 2022, James' office filed a lawsuit against Trump, his adult sons and the Trump Organization, alleging they inflated the value of its properties, resulting in vendors being misled.
