Attorney General Pam Bondi on Thursday announced the Justice Department (DOJ) and the State Department are offering a $50 million reward for information that leads to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

The reward is double the amount that the two departments previously offered, which was an increase from the $15 million offered in 2020.

Maduro has been charged in New York with narco-terrorism, conspiracy to import cocaine, possession of machine guns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices, the State Department said.

"The Justice and State Department are announcing a historic $50 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Nicolas Maduro," Bondi said in a video. "Maduro uses foreign terrorist organizations ... to bring deadly drugs and violence into our country."

Bondi highlighted his influence on drug cartels like the Sinaloa cartel and Tren de Aragua, which have contributed to the fentanyl crisis in the United States by smuggling drugs into the country, including cocaine, which can be laced with fentanyl.

"He is one of the largest narcotic traffickers in the world and a threat to our national security, therefore, we've doubled his reward to $50 million," Bondi said. "Under President Trump's leadership, Maduro will not escape justice, and he will be held accountable for his despicable crimes."

People who have information on Maduro are encouraged to reach out to the Drug Enforcement Agency at CartelSolesTips@usdoj.gov, or call (202) 307-4228.
