Secret Service agents respond to WH correspondents' dinner shooting while unpaid due to shutdown

The White House correspondents' dinner shooting has renewed public scrutiny of Congress for not reaching a budget deal to fund the Department of Homeland Security and end the partial government shutdown.

Democrats are refusing to fund DHS without major reforms to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Congressman Juan Ciscomani, an Arizona Republican, called on congressional leaders to pass funding for DHS as soon as possible.

"Secret Service agents ran toward danger last night to protect and put their lives on the line for others —while serving under an unfunded DHS. They did their job. The House has done our job. Senate must do theirs," he wrote. "@SenMarkKelly @SenRubenGallego : FUND DHS NOW."
