Transportation Secretary Duffy drops footage of porch pirate targeting his DC home Monday
The footage is from the same day that President Donald Trump announced he would activate 800 Washington D.C. National Guard troops and take over the city's Metropolitan Police Department.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and his wife, Rachel Campos-Duffy, on Tuesday shared security footage of a porch pirate allegedly stealing a package from their home in Washington, D.C., as the Trump administration cracks down on crime in the district.
The footage is from the same day that President Donald Trump announced he would activate 800 Washington D.C. National Guard troops and take over the city's Metropolitan Police Department.
The secretary and his wife praised Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi in a post on X for taking action to crack down on crime. The district has one of the highest homicide rates in the country, but has seen improvements in recent years.
"Caught a porch thief on our security camera yesterday at my hubby’s Washington DC residence," Campos-Duffy posted on X. "They do it because they can. Finally! Someone’s willing to crack down on crime in our nation’s Capitol. Thank you, President Trump, [Bondi] & Queen Jeanine!"
Duffy reposted his wife's comment and also thanked the president for working to reduce crime in the nation's capital.
"Nobody is immune to crime in our nation. Breaking the law is breaking the law no matter what," Duffy posted on X. "Finally, somebody is taking on the criminals in Washington, DC. Thank you [President Trump] for cracking down on these offenders and restoring order to America’s Capitol!"
Porch pirates refer to thieves who steal packages, such as orders from Amazon or DoorDash, from people's houses before the customer has a chance to retrieve the item.
