Trump administration will pay illegal immigrants $1,000 to leave U.S.
"This is the safest option for our law enforcement, aliens and is a 70% savings for US taxpayers," Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said.
The Trump administration said Monday that it will give illegal immigrants $1,000 to leave the U.S. voluntarily.
The Department of Homeland Security also announced that it will also pay for travel assistance, and people who use the CBP Home app to inform the government they are planning to return home will be “deprioritized” for detention and removal by immigration enforcement.
“If you are here illegally, self-deportation is the best, safest and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest. DHS is now offering illegal aliens financial travel assistance and a stipend to return to their home country through the CBP Home App,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Monday. "This is the safest option for our law enforcement, aliens and is a 70% savings for US taxpayers."
