Trump fires ex-acting FBI director who withheld info on Jan. 6 investigations: Report
The FBI has not publicly commented on the matter at this time.
President Donald Trump has reportedly fired former acting FBI Director Brian Driscoll, who led the bureau at the beginning of the Trump administration.
A source told The Hill newspaper Thursday that Driscoll was asked to leave by Friday. He returned to his career position at the bureau after his replacement as acting director.
The news of Driscoll's firing comes after he refused to turn over a list of thousands of FBI agents who worked on investigations into rioters who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
The FBI has not publicly commented on the matter as of press time.
The request for the names of FBI agents being turned over resulted in a lawsuit from FBI staff who were concerned the list would result in agents becoming targets.
