U.S. Treasury considers $1 coin featuring Trump for 250th US anniversary

The U.S. Treasury Department is considering minting a $1 coin bearing the image of President Donald Trump to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026. 

Drafts released this week show a profile of Trump on one side, framed by the inscription “LIBERTY” and the years “1776-2026.” 

On the reverse, the design depicts Trump raising a clenched fist in front of an American flag, with the slogan “FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT” referencing his reaction after surviving an assassination attempt in Butler, Pa. in July 2024.

The proposal stems from bipartisan legislation passed in 2020 authorizing the Treasury to issue commemorative $1 coins during the semiquincentennial year.
