Johnson signed an executive order related to preparations in the event Trump follows through on his plan to send federal agents and National Guard troops to other cities, similar to his actions in Los Angeles and Washington.
Mayor Brandon Johnson said on Saturday that local Chicago police won't collaborate with National Guard troops or federal agents if President Donald Trump sends them to the city to lower crime.
Johnson signed an executive order related to preparations in the event Trump follows through on his plan to send federal agents and National Guard troops to other cities, similar to his actions in Los Angeles and Washington.
Illinois Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker argued that Trump is contemplating authorizing an "invasion" of Chicago with National Guard troops.
"It's clear that, in secret, they're planning this. Well, it's an invasion with U.S. troops, if they, in fact, do that," Pritzker said on Saturday.
