New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is facing backlash for what critics are calling inconsistency in his positions on identification requirements in New York City.

Mamdani has voiced opposition to voter ID requirements, arguing they can disenfranchise low-income residents, seniors, and immigrants.

Opponents point to a separate local policy that requires residents to present various forms of identification for emergency snow-removal work during the upcoming major winter storm.

Applicants are required to show two small photos sized 1-1.5 square inches, two original forms of ID plus copies as well as a social security card.
