More than 60 arrests, 10 police officers injured, during night of unrest in NYC after Knicks victory
A 17-year-old was shot in the foot, while four others suffered stab wounds in separate incidents, police said.
Saturday night in New York City was a night of unrest after the Knicks’ NBA championship victory, resulting in multiple people injured, dozens arrested and vehicles damaged in the street, according to police and local news reports.
Police said 63 people were taken into custody after crowds gathered in and around Times Square. Among those arrested, at least 15 face criminal charges. Officials also reported that NYPD vehicles were vandalized and several FIFA buses were set on fire during the incidents.
In addition, a 17-year-old was shot in the foot, while four others suffered stab wounds in separate incidents, police said. Ten officers were also injured while responding to the unrest.
