Six people, including a teen boy and the suspected gunman, were killed Friday in a series of shootings in northern Michigan that prompted a large-scale search involving state police aviation and canine units.

Michigan State Police said officers responded shortly before noon to a home in Lake Township, about 170 miles northwest of Detroit, after receiving a report of a shooting.

Troopers found three people dead inside the home and another person critically wounded.

The wounded victim was taken to a hospital and was later identified as a 13-year-old girl who survived the attack and was listed in stable condition, according to authorities.

Police identified the suspected shooter as 39-year-old Chad Hickman. He fled the first location before officers arrived, triggering a widespread manhunt as authorities warned that he was armed and dangerous.
