Three police officers fatally shot, two injured while serving a warrant in Pennsylvania
The shooting took place in North Codorus Township, about 10 miles outside of York County.
Three police officers were fatally shot Wednesday while serving an arrest warrant outside of York County, Pennsylvania, while two others were injured.
The suspect who allegedly fired on the officers died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, sources told NBC News.
Pennsylvania Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro went to the scene following the incident and said it was a devastating day.
"This is an absolutely tragic and devastating day," he told reporters, according to USA Today. "We grieve for the loss of life for the three precious souls who served this commonwealth...and this county."
The shooting took place in North Codorus Township, about 10 miles outside of York County. Local officials expressed condolences to those impacted.
The shooting resulted in a shelter-in-place order from the Spring Grove Area School District. It has since been lifted.
