FBI, DHS warn public of 'elevated threat' to Jewish community in wake of recent attacks

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Thursday night issued a joint Public Service Announcement (PSA) that warned Americans of an "elevated threat" against Jewish and Israeli communities in the wake of recent attacks.

The warning comes after more than a dozen people were injured at a vigil last weekend in Boulder, Colorado, that honored Israeli hostages in Gaza. Egyptian national Mohamed Sabry Soliman has been charged with 118 counts related to the alleged terror attack.

Two Israeli embassy staffers were also killed last month in a shooting outside a Jewish museum in Washington, D.C.

The FBI and DHS officials warned that the war in Israel could inspire even more violent attacks in the future, and urged Americans to "remain vigilant" and "report any threats of violence or suspicious activity to law enforcement."

"The ongoing Israel-[Hamas] conflict may motivate other violent extremists and hate-crime perpetrators with similar grievances to conduct violence against Jewish and Israeli communities and their supporters," the PSA reads. "Foreign terrorist organizations also may try to exploit narratives related to the conflict to inspire attacks in the United States."
