ICE arrests at least a dozen migrants during raid on Nantucket
The Nantucket Current reported that at least a dozen illegal migrants were arrested during the operation, and another news report indicated that arrests were made in nearby Martha's Vineyard.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Tuesday appeared to confirm that multiple illegal migrants were arrested on Nantucket, after it reposted a story about a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid on social media.
The Nantucket Current reported that at least a dozen illegal migrants were arrested during the operation, and another news report indicated that arrests were made in nearby Martha's Vineyard. It is not clear how many were arrested at the Vineyard.
Both places were targeted by Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2022, who flew dozens of illegal migrants to Martha's Vineyard amid heightened tension over border security.
"ICE is removing illegal aliens from ALL states, communities, and worksites across this country," DHS posted to X. "If you are here illegally use the [Customs and Border Protection] Home app to self-deport. If not, you will be arrested and deported without a chance to return."
The Trump administration has created the "first-ever self-deportation program," which offers undocumented immigrants free flights out of the U.S. and $1,000 if they deport voluntarily.
It is not clear if the raid targeted specific individuals.
