Squad member Omar claims Iran has not attacked Americans, despite evidence indicating otherwise

Progressive Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar blasted President Donald Trump on Tuesday, claiming that "no one is attacking or has attacked Americans," despite information indicating otherwise.
Lawmakers in both chambers are currently debating how the United States should respond to a raging conflict between Israel and Iran, with some lawmakers hoping to curb the president's ability to send U.S. forces to the Middle East.
Trump posted to Truth Social that he would not be attacking Iran "for now" but warned the country that America's patience is "wearing thin."
"No one is attacking or has attacked Americans. It’s time to stop dragging Americans into war and letting Israel once again get America involved in their chosen war," Omar insisted in a post on X. "Stand up for the Americans who believed you wanted peace and don’t commit another generation of Americans into a costly war."
Omar's statement appears to contradict reports that Iranian proxies are responsible for many attacks on U.S. forces in recent years, and even claims that the Iranian regime tried to assassinate Trump in 2024, including through "murder-for-hire" operations.
Some examples of Iranian-backed strikes on U.S. forces include retaliatory strikes against U.S. military positions in Iraq in the days after the Trump administration killed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Qassem Soleimani.
Iran also bears responsibility for the deaths of approximately 603 U.S. service members in Iraq between 2003 and 2011, the Military Times reported in 2019.
