The Trump administration on Friday removed the acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and reassigned him to a lower position, after President Donald Trump expressed anger at deportation numbers, NBC News reported.

Three sources told the outlet in early February that Trump and border czar Tom Homan are adding pressure on ICE to increase the number of arrests and deportations.

Homan is also reportedly not happy with the amount of leaks that have stemmed from ICE, which he credits for lower arrest numbers than expected.

Acting ICE Director Caleb Vitello will now oversee the enforcement of arrests, targeting and field operations, two Department of Homeland Security sources told the outlet. A new acting director will be announced soon.
