Trump blasts 'very unhelpful' France over Iran war spats
Earlier this month, French President Emmanuel Macron declared that Paris would not participate in a military operation to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
President Donald Trump on Tuesday had harsh words for France over its refusal to allow the use of its airspace for American planes to resupply their forces in the Middle East amid the ongoing Iran war.
"The Country of France wouldn’t let planes headed to Israel, loaded up with military supplies, fly over French territory. France has been VERY UNHELPFUL with respect to the 'Butcher of Iran,' who has been successfully eliminated! The U.S.A. will REMEMBER!!!" Trump posted on Truth Social.
Earlier this month, French President Emmanuel Macron declared that Paris would not participate in a military operation to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
“We are not party to the conflict and therefore France will never take part in operations to open or liberate the Strait of Hormuz in the current context,” he said at the time.
Trump, at the time, was not surprised, saying he viewed NATO as a "one-way street."
We will protect them, but they will do nothing for us, in particular, in a time of need," he added.
