Trump removes former Defense Secretary Esper's security detail

Esper wrote a book criticizing Trump and alleged the president told him to shoot protesters.

President Donald Trump has reportedly taken away the security detail for former Defense Secretary Mark Esper. 

Esper is among other members of the first Trump administration to have their security detail revoked inclduing former National Security Adviser John Bolton and retired Army Gen. Mark Milley, who was chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Esper's portrait was also reportedly removed from the Pentagon, according to CNN, among the news outlets that have reported on him losing his security detail. 

Esper wrote a book criticizing Trump and alleged the president told him to shoot protesters.

He referred to Trump as "unprincipled."

Esper has yet to comment on reports that he no longer has a security detail.
