United States military launches next round of strikes on Iranian targets in 13th night of attacks

The United States military launched another round of strikes Thursday night against Iranian military targets, marking the 13th consecutive day U.S. forces have conducted strikes amid the conflict in the Middle East.

U.S. Central Command said the latest strikes began at 6:45 p.m. Eastern and it comes after Iran resumed attacking ships that were transiting the Strait of Hormuz earlier this month. 

"This is the 13th consecutive night of strikes aimed to hold Iran accountable and diminish threats from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to commercial shipping," CENTCOM said on X.

Fighting in the region resumed last week after negotiations failed to end the conflict, which was in a state of nominal ceasefire for months. In June, the countries signed a memorandum of understanding extending the ceasefire by 60 days.

The latest attack comes after four American service members died in the conflict recently, including one who was killed over the weekend while detonating an Iranian drone. The other three died Friday in strikes in Jordan.
