Former President Joe Biden is expected to attend former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney's funeral at the Washington National Cathedral on Thursday, a spokesperson for the former president confirmed Wednesday.
Cheney, who served in the Bush administration from 2001-2009, died earlier this month at age 84 due to complications from pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease.
The funeral is expected to begin at 11:30 a.m. Eastern at the Washington, D.C., cathedral, and the cathedral's dean, the Very Rev. Randolph Marshall Hollerith, will deliver the homily.
Former President George W. Bush; Cheney’s daughter, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.); his grandchildren; his physician Dr. Jonathan Reiner; and Cheney’s former press secretary and legislative assistant Pete Williams will give tributes.
"Guided by a strong set of conservative values, Dick Cheney devoted his life to public service — from representing Wyoming in Congress, to serving as Secretary of Defense, and later as Vice President of the United States," Biden said in a post on X after Cheney's death.
"While we didn’t agree on much, he believed, as I do, that family is the beginning, middle, and end," he continued. "Jill and I send our love to his wife Lynne, their daughters Liz and Mary, and all of their grandchildren."
It was not immediately clear if President Donald Trump or former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama will be at the funeral, according to Politico. It was also not clear if former first lady Jill Biden will attend the ceremony.
