Melania Trump denies rumors president is targeting Harvard because son Barron did not get in
Barron Trump completed his first year at New York University earlier this month.
First lady Melania Trump's office on Tuesday strongly refuted speculation that President Donald Trump is targeting Harvard because his youngest son Barron Trump did not get accepted into the Ivy League institution.
The denial comes the same day the Trump administration announced it would terminate all remaining federal government contracts with Harvard University.
The first lady's Communications Director Nicholas Clemens denied Barron Trump applied to Harvard, per the New York Post. Barron Trump completed his first year at New York University earlier this month.
“Barron did not apply to Harvard, and any assertion that he, or that anyone on his behalf, applied is completely false,” Clemons said in a statement.
The administration's move to terminate the rest of Harvard's federal funding is the latest attack over concerns the school has not done enough to end antisemitism and diversity, equity and inclusion policies. The school has in turn mounted legal challenges.
