OMB general counsel argues Powell being 'dishonest' about Fed renovation project
"This is why Senator Scott, OMB Director Vought, James Blair and his NCPC colleagues are right to investigate," Paoletta wrote.
Mark Paoletta, general counsel of the Office of Management and Budget, argued in a series of social media posts that Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is being "dishonest" about the agency's headquarters building renovations project.
"In his July 17th letter to OMB Director Vought, Powell claims 'There are no VIP dining rooms be constructed' in Eccles Building. Powell absurdly claims that there will be conference rooms used for 'mealtime meetings,'" Paoletta wrote.
"On page 58, the floor design for the 4th floor for Eccles has rooms clearly labeled 'dining' room. Conveniently, there also happens to be a 'pantry' near the dining rooms. There are no rooms labeled as “conference rooms” on the 4th floor of Eccles," he added.
Paoletta said GOP senators are right to investigate the project.
"Why is Jerome Powell being dishonest about this?? This is why Senator Scott, OMB Director Vought, James Blair and his NCPC colleagues are right to investigate," he wrote.
"This Thursday, President Trump, our nation’s greatest developer, paid a visit to the FRB construction site and saw first hand Powell’s mismanagement of this project."
