President Trump releases first full wave of federal judicial nominees
Trump reaffirmed his nomination of Tennessee's Whitney Hermandorfer to serve on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and nominated four people for federal judgeships in Missouri, and one in Washington, D.C.
President Donald Trump on Tuesday night released his first full wave of federal judicial nominees, selecting five individuals for federal judgeships and reaffirming his nomination for a sixth.
The nominations come after Trump nominated Tennessee state attorney Whitney Hermandorfer last week to serve on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit if confirmed by the United States Senate.
Trump reaffirmed Hermandorfer's nomination in a White House news release, and nominated four people for federal judgeships in Missouri, and Edward O'Connell for associate judge on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
"Eddie served for nearly two decades as a Tough on Crime Prosecutor for the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, where he prosecuted many Horrific Crimes, including Homicides, Domestic Violence, Organized Crime, Narcotics Offenses, and more," Trump posted to Truth Social.
"D.C. could, and should, be a wonderful place, if political hacks would stop making such terrible decisions," he continued. "I know Eddie will help make everyone much safer."
The Missouri nominees consist of two appeals court judges, Missouri's Solicitor General Josh Divine, and principal Deputy Solicitor General for the Missouri Attorney General’s Office Maria Lanahan.
All six nominees will need to be confirmed by the Senate. Trump is looking to fill more than 40 federal court vacancies.
