White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced Tuesday that President Donald Trump will give an address to the nation Wednesday night about the regional conflict in the Middle East.

The speech is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Eastern and is expected to be streamed on the White House's social media platforms.

Leavitt did not give details on the address but said the president will "provide an important update on Iran."

The U.S. and Israel began the weeks-long conflict with Iran late last month, which resulted in the death of former Iranian Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has retaliated against the U.S. and Israel by hitting American bases in the region and the U.S. warned Iran could expand its efforts to impact U.S. facilities in other countries.
