Trump announces expedited visas for 2026 World Cup ticket holders
"The World Cup will also be an incredibly significant economic opportunity for countless American workers and businesses," President Trump said
President Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that 2026 World Cup ticket holders would receive expedited visas.
Infantino said with Trump in the Oval Office on Monday that there will be a “FIFA Pass,” which is a “prioritized appointment scheduling system” for people with World Cup tickets to get visas in time for next summer’s tournament, The Hill news outlet reported.
“With this FIFA Pass, we can make sure that those who buy a ticket, that are legitimate football fans or soccer fans, they can come and attend the World Cup in the best conditions, starting from getting their visa, and then coming of course in the country to enjoy,” Infantino said.
Trump said that the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to ensure that World Cup attendees are “properly vetted” and can come to the U.S. for the tournament “easily” next summer.
“The World Cup will also be an incredibly significant economic opportunity for countless American workers and businesses. It’s expected to drive more than $30 billion,” Trump said. “And it’s going to create nearly 200,000 jobs.”
The U.S., Mexico, and Canada will jointly host the World Cup from June to July in 2026. Next month, the World Cup draw will be held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
