President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced that he will be signing an executive order that will direct the Pentagon to prepare a facility at Guantanamo Bay to house migrants who are being deported.

Under this order, the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security will prepare a facility that can house up to 30,000 migrants, according to The Hill newspaper

Guantanamo Bay is a facility in Cuba that has been used to house military prisoners.

“We have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people,” Trump said regarding the order.

“Some of them are so bad we don’t even trust the countries to hold them because we don’t want them coming back, so we’re going to send them out to Guantanamo,” he continued. “This will double our capacity immediately. And tough. It’s a tough place to get out of.”

Trump made these remarks during an event where he signed the "Laken Riley Act" into law.
