Trump begins reclassifying federal employees for swift removal if necessary
The White House said the change would empower federal agencies to "swiftly remove employees in policy-influencing roles for poor performance, misconduct, corruption, or subversion of presidential directives, without lengthy procedural hurdles."
President Donald Trump has started reclassifying 50,000 federal employees under Schedule F, which would make it easier to fire them.
Reclassifying them as Schedule F would treat them as political appointees or other at-will workers.
"Following my Day One Executive Order, the Office of Personnel Management will be issuing new Civil Service Regulations for career government employees," President Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on Friday.
"Moving forward, career government employees, working on policy matters, will be classified as 'Schedule Policy/Career,' and will be held to the highest standards of conduct and performance. If these government workers refuse to advance the policy interests of the president, or are engaging in corrupt behavior, they should no longer have a job," he added.
