Trump brings rescued Gaza hostages on stage at NRCC dinner
The former hostages praised the president for his commitment to bringing hostages home, stating that he has now rescued 33 hostages. There are still 59 hostages being held in Gaza.
President Donald Trump on Tuesday night brought three former Hamas hostages on stage during a dinner for the National Republican Congressional Committee.
The three Israeli former hostages praised the president for his commitment to help bringing them home, stating that he has now rescued 33 hostages. There are still 59 hostages being held in Gaza.
"Thank you very much President Trump," one of the former hostages said. "I'm here and I'm alive. President Trump, you saved my life. You saved the lives of 33 hostages. Because of your efforts, and you setting the hostages crisis at the high priority of what you are doing among all the enormous issues and things that you're dealing with ... We all owe our lives to you."
Another former hostage said he felt optimistic about when he heard that Trump was elected, because he was "someone who makes things happen."
"We knew we need someone who do things, that's President Trump," he said. "We are here because of President Trump, thank you. It's really surreal to be here ... I'm a simple man. I'm running the bar in the kibbutz ... Now I'm here with President Trump who's running the world. We are thankful."
The third former hostage asked lawmakers to help bring the rest of the hostages home.
"We need you to bring all the hostages home," she said. "There's 24 that's alive and 59 to come home to their families ... So I'm begging you all to help us. We need your help. Thank you."
