President Donald Trump on Thursday night confirmed that Kazakhstan has become the first country of his second term to join his landmark foreign policy deal, the Abraham Accords, and an official signing ceremony will take place soon.

The Abraham Accords are bilateral agreements on Arab-Israeli normalization. The first agreements, between Israel and Bahrain and Israel and the United Arab Emirates, involved both diplomatic and economic matters. They were mediated by the United States and finalized in 2020.

Trump said he has also spoken to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about Kazakhstan joining the accords, and teased future countries could sign the agreement soon.

"Kazakhstan is the first Country of my Second Term to join the Abraham Accords, the first of many," Trump posted on Truth Social. "This is a major step forward in building bridges across the World. Today, more Nations are lining up to embrace Peace and Prosperity through my Abraham Accords.

"We will soon announce a Signing Ceremony to make it official, and there are many more Countries trying to join this club of strength. So much more to come in uniting Countries for Stability and Growth — Real progress, real results," he added.

An unidentified U.S. official teased the looming agreement earlier Thursday, and told Axios that bringing Kazakhstan into the accords is intended to help restore Israel's standing in the Arab and Muslim world.

The announcement comes the same day Trump met with the leaders of five Central Asian countries, including the leaders of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
