President Donald Trump on Monday confirmed that the United States plans to sell F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia as part of a series of deals that are expected during the crown prince's visit to the White House Tuesday.

The upcoming visit comes after Trump visited Saudi Arabia in May on his first official trip since returning to the Oval Office earlier this year. During the initial visit, Trump and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, signed more than a dozen agreements addressing each nation's armed forces, justice departments, and cultural institutions.

Trump's confirmation of the upcoming sale comes after he also announced a $142 billion arms package with the Saudis in May. The fighter jets are expected to be part of a larger weapons deal, per ABC News.

"I will say that we will be doing that, we'll be selling F-35s, yeah," Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday. "[The Saudis] want to buy, they've been a great ally."

The crown prince's visit will mark the first time he's been in the United States since 2018, and is expected to include an Oval Office meeting and lunch, and a black-tie dinner Tuesday evening.
