Trump declares February 9th ‘Gulf of America Day’

President Trump announced on Saturday that he has proclaimed February 9th as Gulf of America Day.

“I call upon public officials and all the people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities,” Trump said in the proclamation which he announced as he flew over the Gulf of America on Sunday while heading to the Super Bowl in New Orleans from Palm Beach, Florida.

Last month, he signed an executive order directing the interior secretary to take all appropriate steps to rename the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America.
