President Donald Trump will meet with the top four congressional leaders on Monday, seeking to strike a possible bipartisan deal to avoid a government shutdown ahead of an Oct . 1 deadline.

The planned meeting with Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer, House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries was confirmed Saturday night to Just the News by multiple sources.

Schumer and Jeffries issued a statement confirming their attendance at Monday’s meeting

“President Trump has once again agreed to a meeting in the Oval Office,” the Democrat leaders said. “As we have repeatedly said, Democrats will meet anywhere, at any time and with anyone to negotiate a bipartisan spending agreement that meets the needs of the American people. We are resolute in our determination to avoid a government shutdown and address the Republican healthcare crisis. Time is running out.”

The 11th hour session comes a week after Trump canceled a meeting with Schumer and Jeffries after concluding their demands for hundreds of billions of dollars in spending was "unserious and ridiculous."
